  5.       Thank you for being interested in taking a look at this new version of
  6.       InterMail Manager. This release is basicly a version fixing bugs found
  7.       in the 1.00 release and enhancing its features. There aren't many
  8.       completely new features introduced in this version.
  9.  
  10.       One of the most important changes when compared to the previous release
  11.       is that IMMGR has got its original name back, InterMail Manager. The
  12.       word "Task" in the middle has been removed.
  13.  
  14.       I am also now monitoring InterMail's international support conference,
  15.       IM_USER and will give technical support there along with the worldwide
  16.       registration team.
  17.  
  18.       INSTALLATION
  19.       ------------
  20.  
  21.       To install from a scratch, create the following (or similar) directory
  22.       structure:
  23.  
  24.           IMMGR         System files and executables
  25.           ├BATCH        Batch files (BATCH.ZIP)
  26.           └REGISTER     Registration information (REGISTER.ZIP)
  27.  
  28.       Unarchive 'IMMGR.110' to the System directory. Within the 'IMMGR.110'
  29.       you'll find BATCH.ZIP and REGISTER.ZIP. To keep the directory structure
  30.       as clean as possible you should unarchive them to their own directories.
  31.  
  32.       After all the files have been unarchived start IMMSETUP.EXE. When
  33.       started for the first time it will import as much information as
  34.       possible from existing configurations such as InterMail.
  35.  
  36.       UPGRADING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION
  37.       ---------------------------------
  38.  
  39.       This release doesn't include any major changes in the file structures.
  40.       Only the structures of EVENT.MGR have changed. The easiest way to
  41.       upgrade is to delete the existing EVENT.MGR and to start IMMSETUP and
  42.       Event manager. It will save you a lot of head ache.
  43.  
  44.       The registration system has not gone through any changes. If you're a
  45.       registered user you're entitled to use the Professional version and your
  46.       current registration code will continue to work. Please note that this
  47.       version is the Evaluation version and does not contain the features
  48.       introduced in the Professional version. Please contact your local
  49.       registration site for the Professional version. All the registration
  50.       sites are listed in REGSITES.LST (included in REGISTER.ZIP).

  52.       WHAT ABOUT THE NEW FEATURES?
  53.       ----------------------------
  54.  
  55.       It is impossible to list all the new features and bugs that have been
  56.       fixed in this release. Here is a brief list of the most interesting
  57.       stuff.
  58.  
  59.         o  To avoid conclusion the executables are now named differently. The
  60.            SETUP maintenance utility is called "IMMSETUP.EXE", and the program
  61.            itself "IMMGR.EXE".
  62.  
  63.         o  Memory usage has been optimized a great deal.
  64.  
  65.         o  Added a new Mail session variable: "%SESSLEN%" will be replaced
  66.            with the mail session length in "hh.mm.ss" format.
  67.  
  68.         o  Added a new Mailer asleep variable: "%STATUS%" will be replaced
  69.            with the status of the current task. At the moment the status will
  70.            only be 'Asleep'.
  71.  
  72.         o  Numeric, date and time separators are now taken from the operating
  73.            system's country information.
  74.  
  75.         o  IMMSETUP: Event manager was completely rewritten. Several bugs have
  76.            been fixed and a couple of new features such as sorting events was
  77.            added.
  78.  
  79.         o  IMMSETUP: Nodelist manager was completely rewritten. Nodelist
  80.            entries are sorted in alphabetical order. <F4> can be used to scan
  81.            the Nodelist directory for undefined nodelists.
  82.  
  83.         o  Added a new User on-line variable: "%LOGIN%" will be replaced with
  84.            the user's login time.
  85.  
  86.         o  Enhanced keyboard routines didn't function as supposed. Fixed.

  88.         o  Some IMMGR-related semaphores have been renamed:

  90.              IMNOEXIT.MGR       Disables exiting
  91.              IMNOSCAN.MGR/.NOW  Disables rescanning
  92.              IMNOMAIL.MGR       Disables tossing of new mail
  93.              IMNOFILE.MGR       Disables processing of new files
  94.              IMNOMSGS.MGR       Disables msgbase scanning
  95.              IMNOLIST.MGR       Disables nodelist updating
  96.  
  97.         o  IMMSETUP: Node specific semaphores has been rewritten and renamed
  98.            to "Node status". In the MultiLine version <Del> can now be used to
  99.            remove the node entry completely.
  100.  
  101.         o  Multitasker routines have been replaced completely by internal
  102.            multitasking routines. Please note that spawning of new sessions is
  103.            not possible in this release. Multitasker support can be disabled
  104.            completely by choosing "Disabled" in Multitasker options or by
  105.            using a command-line parameter "NOMULD".
  106.  
  107.         o  Screen saver routines have been rewritten. Previously the screen
  108.            saver had problems when running under different multitaskers.
  109.  
  110.         o  If NetMail Import utility is defined it will automatically be
  111.            executed if new NetMail is found from the NetMail folder.
  112.  
  113.         o  IMMGR.ERR file was renamed to IMMERROR.LOG. This ASCII file will
  114.            contain detailed information of possible run-time errors. All
  115.            information is appended at the end-of-file, existing file is not
  116.            overwritten. IMMERROR.LOG is located in the System directory.
  117.            Incase of a run-time error please send this file to the
  118.            registration site.
  119.  
  120.         o  Added TRUE MultiLine support to the Professional version! Since the
  121.            maximum number of nodes visible at a time is ten (10) cursor pad
  122.            can be used to scroll the node information window.
  123.  
  124.         o  On-line messages are now handled properly, e.g. IMMGR will check if
  125.            no user is on-line before sending the message. This avoids old
  126.            on-line messages to be sent in a new log in after the previous one.
  127.  
  128.         o  All date/time comparisons are now made using Unix timestamps to get
  129.            more exact results.
  130.  
  131.         o  The cookie file, "COOKIE.MGR" used with "%COOKIE%" can now contain
  132.            user comments. Empty lines and text after a semi-colon (ASCII 59)
  133.            are ignored.
  134.  
  135.         o  RemoteAccess' "USERON.BBS" was sometimes opened using a wrong file
  136.            mode which could have caused conflicts between IMMGR and other
  137.            utilities reading it. Fixed.
  138.  
  139.         o  Inbound directories are now scanned for new nodelists only if
  140.            Nodelist manager contains entries. Nodelist scan is done before the
  141.            incoming files are processed.
  142.  
  143.         o  Empty poll messages are now created as 'ARCmail' type messages, and
  144.            should not be sent out by InterMail.
